Arriving at Aruba Airport

Landing in Aruba is usually quick and easy. Here is what happens between the aircraft door and your taxi, and what to prepare before you fly.

Before you fly

• Complete the ED card online on the official website edcardaruba.aw. It is mandatory for every traveller, including children, and your airline checks it before boarding. More about the ED card and the $20 Sustainability Fee.
• Make sure your passport is valid for your whole stay.
• Have your return or onward ticket and the address of your accommodation ready.

Step by step after landing

1. Immigration. Follow the signs to passport control. Border officers check your passport and ED card, and may ask about the purpose and length of your stay.
2. Baggage claim. Collect your luggage in the baggage hall. If a bag is missing or damaged, report it to your airline's baggage desk before you leave the hall.
3. Customs. Walk through customs. If you carry more than the duty-free allowances, or cash above AWG 20,000, you must declare it.
4. Arrivals hall. Here you will find car rental desks, ATMs, transfer representatives and, just outside, the taxi stand.

How long does it take?

On a quiet day you can be outside within 30 minutes of landing. When several large flights arrive at the same time, for example at busy times in high season, it can take an hour or more.

Money

The local currency is the Aruban florin (AWG), but US dollars are accepted almost everywhere. ATMs are available in the terminal, so there is no need to exchange money in advance.
